San Marcos Art Fest

Saturday, April 12 | Downtown San Marcos

Immerse yourself in creativity at San Marcos Art Fest 2025, a celebration of art in all its forms! Taking place in the heart of Downtown San Marcos, this vibrant event brings together artists, art lovers, and the community for a day filled with color, inspiration, and hands-on experiences.

What to Expect:

• Mural Jam, 9am - 6pm – Live Mural Painting Demos from talented artists in Imagine Alley! Stop by to see the artists in action as they create large-scale works of art before your eyes.

• Chalk Walk, 10am - 2pm – Watch the sidewalk come to life as children in grades K-12 create colorful designs from chalk! This event promotes creativity, community spirit, and healthy outdoor activity while providing a fun and memorable experience for children and families. The event is free and all materials and supplies will be provided.

Mural Jam Artists

• Downtown Business Activities, 1pm - 5pm – Engage in pop-up art stations and activities in participating businesses to participate in hands-on experiences throughout Downtown.

• Kiss & Tale:  A Kissing Alley Artist Activation - 10 am-10 pm – Visit Kissing Alley during San Marcos Art Fest to be immersed in the local art scene. There will be upcycled clothing, a fashion show, a showcase of Local DJ’s, an artist panel, and a concert featuring &bops, Window Shop, and Attic Ted.
  
  From 10am to 4pm, Corrine Loperfido will be presenting The Slow Fashion Center for Degrowth, with handmade upcycling clothing. At 1pm Loperfido will host the Slow Fashion Speed Dating Fashion Show. 
  
  At 4:30 pm Kissing Alley will turn over to the SMTX Arts Panel Discussion, where five local artists from the San Marcos community will discuss the history of the local art scene, what growth it is currently experiencing, and where this art community is going in the future. Having intentional conversations about shared observations and hopes is a way to strengthen the arts community.
  
  Attendees are sure to leave with a heightened understanding of how the local San Marcos art community is sparking societal change and how to help encourage its sustainable growth. Moderated by local Daily Record Managing Editor, Shannon West and chaired by Michael Villareal, Julia Fae, Corrine Loperfido, Christopher Paul Cardoza, and Karly Schlievert.
  
  Around 6:00 pm visitors are invited to join the MotherShip team for dinner at a local restaurant on the square. Then at 7:30 we’ll blow your socks off with the Kissing Alley Concert, featuring performances by local legends & bops, Window Shop, and Attic Ted.

• Art Squared Art Market – Browse and shop for unique pieces from local artists on the Hays County Historic Courthouse Lawn.

• San Marcos Studio Tour – Explore the 3rd annual San Marcos Studio Tour! For the first two weekends of April more than 87 artists have opened their studios for the public to explore, meet the creators, and even take home an original piece. Studios are open 12-6 on Sat. 4/5 & Sun. 4/6 as well as Sat. 4/12 & Sun. 4/13. Join the Studio Tour community for the Kick Off Party on Friday 4/4 at 7pm located at MotherShip Studios where you can see a group gallery of every artist on tour!
