Texas State University

Since opening its doors in 1903 as Southwest Texas State Normal School with just over 300 students, Texas State University has grown into one of the largest universities in Texas, with more than 40,000 Bobcats enrolled.

Nestled between Austin and San Antonio, Texas State offers a vibrant cultural scene that invites both students and visitors to explore. Discover the renowned Wittliff Collections at Alkek Library, wander through rotating exhibitions at the Texas State Galleries, or enjoy a wide array of concerts, theatre performances, guest-artist appearances, lectures, and special events throughout the year.

One of the campus’s most distinctive features: it includes Spring Lake, the headwaters of the San Marcos River, surrounding one of the oldest continuously inhabited sites in North America, and is home to rare, endangered species. Today, The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment (formerly Aquarena Springs) serves as a living, breathing hub for environmental education, research, stewardship, and immersive nature experiences right on campus.

Show your Bobcat spirit by catching a game—Texas State competes at the Division I level in the PAC-12 Conference, delivering year-round athletic excitement. Whether it's fall football at UFCU Stadium or spring matchups across multiple sports, there's always a reason to root for the Bobcats.

Every day is a great day to be a Bobcat—especially when you’re exploring, learning, or soaking up the energy of the campus culture and natural beauty.
