Babe's Doughnut & Coffee
While this cute coffee shop has some excellent coffee options, you'll want to come here when you're hungry, too! For sweet lovers, Babe's has you covered. From its old-fashioned donuts to its fanciful flavors, donut devotees will love its year-round staples and seasonal treats. Donuts aren't the only thing at Babe's. Its biscuits make a perfect quick breakfast. Try the honey butter chicken biscuit or the Nashville Hot Chicken biscuit, and you'll see why its biscuits are popular.

Coffee lovers will swoon over the brews from Polite Coffee Roasters, made here in Texas. From the Sweet Cream Cold Brew to the Honey Lavender Latte to the Matcha coffee concoctions, Babe's is a destination for specialty coffee drinks. There are even some tables out front.

Coffee Bar
The Coffee Bar is a cute San Marcos coffee shop! It's got that vintage and cozy feel that makes you want to linger. Pick a spot in front of the windows for excellent people-watching. Or enjoy your beverage at a bistro set on the sidewalk and sip your drink with your best furry friend. (He might even get a pup cup!)

This specialty coffee shop boasts a menu of not one but three chocolate coffee drinks, like the Loco Coco. Not only does the coffee taste good, it's Fair Trade Organic Coffee. If you prefer tea, you'll find classics like a London Fog, Matcha, or a Chai. We always recommend getting one of the shop’s super unique seasonal specials while they’re there! If you're hungry, snag one of the shop’s homemade scones before they go home with someone else.

Jo's Cafe
Jo's Cafe is a laid-back and atmospheric spot just a few blocks away from the heart of downtown. With outdoor tables and bike parking, pedal here or walk over with your dog. Enjoy coffee with breakfast–choose from a breakfast burrito, quesadilla, or a plate of tacos. Or come later and order a panini and kick back, fuel up, and stay awhile. The shop has all the classic coffee drinks, but they also have candy bar-inspired specialties that you'll want to try.

Redbud Roasters
If you're serious about your coffee, Redbud Roasters is a must-stop! It's both a coffee roaster and a specialty coffee shop. If you need your coffee hot and ready, let Redbud craft a specialty coffee drink like The Wild Onion or Mocha Borgia.

Redbud coffee is created from certified fair trade, organic, shade-grown coffee beans worldwide. Oh, and make sure you buy a bag or two of the shop’s roasted beans to take home. We guarantee you'll want to enjoy the sips of San Marcos long after your trip.

Tantra San Marcos
Tantra wears many hats. It starts the day as a cute coffee shop with a dog-friendly patio and lots of picnic tables. They offer specialty coffee concoctions, like its Cacaowie Wowie (an espresso and spiced chocolate drink). If you need a bite, the bagels are the go-to. For the lunch crowd, a vegan or pork banh mi sandwich, a Thai crunch salad, or a healthy taco selection all bring smiles to its guests. As the sun calls it a day, this spot turns into a fun happy hour destination with craft beer and live music.

Dos Gatos
Dos Gatos has been kolache heaven since 2009. From savory kolaches with jalapeños, chorizo, and even Polish sausage, sauerkraut, and mustard to traditional fruit-topped Czech favorites–Dos Gatos is a fantastic breakfast classic.

Best of all, Dos Gatos has two locations, one on LBJ and its specialty coffee shop at Wonder World. Kolaches might be king, but Dos Gatos’ coffee menu is also terrific. Frappes, lattes, and a whole slew of flavor combinations—every coffee lover is sure to find something tasty.

Lamppost Coffee
Lamppost Coffee loves its latte art. Choose from barista-made espresso, tea, cold brew, and hot coffee, and try one of the shop’s delicious breakfast specials. For a unique treat, we suggest the Lamba Latte or Espresso Milkshake and its Rosemary Sea Salt Bagel.

Mochas and Javas
Mochas and Javas has two locations in San Marcos, N. LBJ and Wonder World. Get your caffeine fix from Mochas and Javas, no matter what part of town you're exploring. Enjoy one of its crafted classics, or treat yourself to a frozen chino.

If you're looking for a bite, Mochas and Javas offers pancakes, paninis, and salads, many of which are grab-and-go. That Matcha Chile and a breakfast sandwich are calling our name.

Summer Moon Coffee
Summer Moon Coffee is a roaster and specialty shop. What makes Summer Moon unique is its wood-fired coffee roasting over Texas Oak. And the addition of decadent Moon Milk. What is Moon Milk? It's Summer Moon's signature sweet cream that complements the oak-roasted undertones of the coffee. And trust us, you're going to want to try it!

Wake The Dead Coffee House
Wake The Dead is more than a funky coffee house. It’s a destination for arts and live music here in San Marcos. Look for the black and red striped, Tim Burton-esque house; it has more than just coffee to entice you. The house serves over 55 imported and domestic beers, wine, and food! You'll also want to keep its events on your radar, including comedy shows, poetry nights, live music, and art receptions.
