Pick Up A New Hobby

In 2024 we are spending less time mindlessly scrolling and more time creating, and there's no better way to pick up a hobby than by learning from some of San Marcos' artists! Learn how work with glass via fusing at Silo Glass, hand blowing at Wimberley Glassworks, or working with stained glass at River City Glassworks. Keep an eye out (sorry, we had to) for Eye of the Dog Art Center's class offerings. You'll find classes in various mediums like collage and ceramics, perfect for the budding or experienced artist. The Price Center is a regular meeting place for quilters and painters. The open studio painting class meets on Wednesdays at 10:30am and has a suggested $5 donation. Bee Friends Quilting meets on every 2nd and 4th Thursday for quilting practice, workshops, and contests. And, of course, the San Marcos Public Library always has some kind of crafting workshop or craft group meeting going on.

Looking for a hobby that takes place in the great outdoors? You'll love going on a Birding Hike! This guided tour takes place in different natural areas around San Marcos on the first Saturday of every month. You never know what cool birds you'll find!
